Saturday, January 17, 6-9pm + Saturday January 24, 6-9pm
Location: The Whale Studio and Art Gallery, 809 N Irving Circle, Tucson AZ 85711
Cost: $150 — includes all materials, supplies, and use of the facilities during two scheduled sessions. Email me to discuss sliding scale options.
In this two-session workshop, we will make hand-carved, closed form / lidded vessels (reminiscent of small memory boxes or vessels used for ceremonial offering). We will explore the art of pottery as a method for processing grief through loss and change—considering the experience of individual grief as well as our shared or collective grief. Throughout the making process, we discuss concepts of impermanence and transformation and experience the materiality of the clay (earth/land/ground) as a vehicle for deep self-reflection and healing.
All levels welcome, from beginner (first time) to advanced. This workshop incluldes technical instruction, guided prompts, and group discussion.
Pickup of fired/finished pieces will be coordinated in the weeks following the workshop.
